Volunteer Spotlight
   AREA VOLUNTEERS RECOGNIZED  Five outstanding American Red Cross Volunteers were recognized from the Kansas Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross during the chapter's annual awards and recognition reception held November 3, 2009. The John Marvin Boggs, Jr. Distinguished Disaster Services Volunteer Award went to Marie Wims, of Topeka. Marie has been an active Disaster Action Team member for over 7 years and this last year began training for national public relations for the American Red Cross. Two extraordinary volunteers were presented the Spirit of Natalie Award.  They were Kristin Noble of Topeka and Gary Mason of Emporia. Kristin works her volunteer hours in the Topeka office and Gary in the Emporia office.  Both giving a great deal of time and effort to assist staff. The Octavia Thacher Volunteer of the Year Award was shared by two very deserving volunteers Gary Duncan and Larry White, both of Tope
